Replace one of UNC's wins with a bye and it'd probably cost them four to six spots, at least.

2) their losses are all very close and to teams with a combined 18-7 record, two of them being Louisville and Duke (14-3 together.) And when comparing losses, one of my general philosophies is to favor close losses to fair teams (like Wake) over blowout losses to good teams. There's a LOT of gray area there but the way I see it, it doesn't take a good team to lose by 35 to Alabama - anyone can do that - so I don't give much credit for that. So UNC's one-point loss to 4-4 Wake looks better in my eyes.

3) I tend to boost shutouts a smidge higher than normal wins, and UNC has two of them.

I agree UNC catches the eye. But I don't usually change things if I can look at their resume and pinpoint why that happened, so I left UNC. The one I should've moved is A&M because the more I look at their resume the less I like any reasons to leave them that high. But then again, A&M got me a mention in this week's Wack Ballot writeup, and there's no such thing as bad publicity.Brendanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10506945153264825303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7193007137551439191.post-81828533749824039662012-10-30T11:39:55.774-04:002012-10-30T11:39:55.774-04:00Having Oregon #2 doesn't bother me that much, ...Having Oregon #2 doesn't bother me that much, the schedule's coming and honestly the fact that they've had a 30 pt lead at some point in every game except one (way to go fresno state, kept it to 29) is pretty damn impressive. Reminds me of how every year there's an undefeated utah or boise I'd say to myself "maybe if they'd absolutely _crushed_ all these teams" and there'd be a couple single-digit letdowns to blah opposition.

That said, I'm gonna take the opportunity here to scream about 1) every single poll (including the bloggers) ranking the SEC LSU, then Georgia, then Florida as if all the weeks PRIOR to this last one meant nothing and 2) Really coaches? USC #17, Arizona #34? Really? (Again, everyone's guilty, the coaches were just really, really egregious.)

Anyway, that's really it, as usual with your ballot there are things I don't agree with, but I can completely see how your system came up with them (except maybe for UNC, think you're giving some ACC wins more credit than they deserve here... or maybe our season has just left me with a really bad taste in my mouth.)Brandonnoreply@blogger.com
