Question: What do these schools all have in common? Answer: Very high academic standards. Question: Which of these schools play in very competitive football conferences? Answer: All but Rice. Question: Which school is not going to a bowl game? Answer: UVa. Question: Why?The Ole Philosopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07275507975977634920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7193007137551439191.post-85568066685350079142012-12-04T16:42:02.378-05:002012-12-04T16:42:02.378-05:00The defense was good and getting better every week...The defense was good and getting better every week. The secondary continued to mature, not to mention the amazing development of Braithwaite and Harold from week 1 to week 12.

Gutting the defensive staff mystifies me. Firing the tight ends coach? They seemed to do a fine job between Phillips/Freedman blocking and McGee catching.

Now, when I think about the o-line's inability to get a single yard on many occasions, the rock like hands of the wide receivers, and the constant fielding of kickoffs 7 yards deep and running them out after counting to 3, there seem to be many more likely candidates for the unemployment line.

Question of the day - what do you think is happening in the picture of Coach London that AP has and must be threatening to reveal to the public if he is fired? You could argue that resources put into the volleyball program would've been better spent on football, but the truth is Littlepage has done what he was hired to do and done it very well, and we aren't exactly skimping on football.Brendanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10506945153264825303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7193007137551439191.post-17030945141410220532012-12-04T13:43:23.335-05:002012-12-04T13:43:23.335-05:00Why is CL the teflon man? However, the RTD's Michael Phillips tweeted this yesterday:

"The phrase "relieved of his duties" has never been less applicable than with Jim Reid. Coaching football was not a burden to him."

So I think that casts some doubt on the idea.Brendanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10506945153264825303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7193007137551439191.post-71449280399030717002012-12-04T10:00:30.447-05:002012-12-04T10:00:30.447-05:00I agree with Chief Wahoo's suspicions about Re...I agree with Chief Wahoo's suspicions about Reid "volunteering". Classic major poll laddering. Frankly, if there was any fudging going on I have to assume they would've bumped them ahead of boise (who they should be ahead of anyway...) to really seal the deal.Brandonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7193007137551439191.post-61590823903191825802012-12-04T00:16:16.444-05:002012-12-04T00:16:16.444-05:00I suspect Littlepaige went to London and demanded ...I suspect Littlepaige went to London and demanded wholesale changes...London then went to his staff and asked for volunteers, Jim Reid says he is close to retiring anyway, Hanson says he goes with Reid, Moore doesn't want to coach anyway...Lazor is an expensive fire and is too ambitious to take the hit

I also think Littlepaige told Coach that he needed someone with head coaching experience to offset some of London's clock nonsense etc

Randy Shannon I think wants to stick it to Al Golden

Welcome to Charlottesville Randy!

Chief Wahoohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14005491870828739609noreply@blogger.com
